What accomplishments are you most proud of?

Earning my PhD, teaching in the Mercer School of Medicine for 17 years, retiring 2014!, presented research and scientific papers in Turkey, Slovenia, Czech Republic,England,and Brazil. Appointed by Gov. Nathan Deal to serve on the GA psychology licensing board 2013. President and on the boards of many APA organizations. Research - published and presented 67 scientific papers, book chapters, journal articles, etc.

Do you have any hobbies?

Paula and I began dating at Mark Smith when I was in the band and she was a majorette. We will celebrate 43 wonderful years of marriage this August. Paula went on to get her graduate degrees and before both our retirements last year we were both Chairs of our departments in our respective colleges.

Retirement is great! We are having a wonderful time together and doing a lot of traveling.

Do you have a school story to share?

The state BB championship! of course.

What is your favorite Mark Smith/Lasseter memory?

Friends, teachers, state championship game - I attended. It was the game of a lifetime with double overtime and winning right at the buzzer by one point.

What did you do for fun during high school?

Band and church activities, hung around with friends, dated Paula!

Pastored at first, then saw the need for mental health care in my churches and became a clinical psychologist. Began teaching and research in Medicine, taught at Mercer in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences for 26 years, served as Chairman of the Psychiatry Department for 8 years, retired last June 30 (2014). Mercer University Board of Trustees at their annual meeting this spring (2015) voted to award me a lifetime faculty appointment to the medical school as Distinguished Academic Emeritus Professor.

Donnie was a good friend to all who knew him. He served his community well - I cant remember if he was on the Macon City Council or school board. He is missed. his sister was Pam.
