I was in graduate school in Fort Worth, TX when I learned of Randy Reid's death. It was a huge shock. I don't remember the details surrounding his death but know that even know I think of him often, most of the time thinking about him playing the tuba and laughing!

I remember when the band had travelled to Knoxville, TN to march in a parade; after the parade ended, we were given permission to explore the immediate area of town. The girls gathered around Randy because he was one of the larger guys in the band and they felt safer with him than many other guys.
