Ed Burdett (1968)

I was saddened to hear the news of Bobby's passing.  We became good friends when I moved to Macon in 1967.  Together with Bill Watson, Leonard Wolfe, John Johnson and David Morgan, we all hung out together  - usually traveling in Bobby's car which was the fastest.  He was witty and funny, and cocky as hell. With lots of laughs, he helped get me through a tough senior year.

Bill Watson (1968)

I echo what Ed had to say and I remember Bobby well as he belonged to a group of six of us who considered ourselves bonded together in being outside what we thought of as the Mark Smith "in crowd" group (Bobby, Ed Burdett, John Johnson. David Morgan, Leonard Wolf, and myself).

In my mind we are all still 17, riding around in one of our cars on a summer evening with the windows down, talking, laughing and having a great time being pals together. Sometimes going down the road to Jones County which had a younger age to buy beer, with me as the driver as I was the only one who didn't drink it at the time. Then back to Ed's or Leonard's to listen to music & goof off!

I remember Bobby as a very sharp guy, very interested in and always willing to talk about cars and always sociable with an upbeat and very confident attitude.
