• 1972 to 1975: Studied foreign languages and traveled in Europe, Asia and Latin America

• 1975-1979: Employed by an engineering firm in New York City
• 1979: Traveled to Japan to study foreign languages while working as a translator and language teacher
• Instructor of English at Shizuoka University in Japan
• Obtained certificates of proficiency in German, French, Spanish, Russian, Japanese, and Chinese
• Co-wrote the book, "The Traditional Annual Events In Japan."
