Macon, GA- Charles W. Balkcom, 67, was born to Dick Balkcom and Imogene (Gresham) Balkcom. He was the middle son of their three boys, Lamar, Charles and Wayne Balkcom. Charles also had five half siblings Ricky Balkcom, Alice Cannon, Nancy Bower, Darlene Balkcom and Karen Falgout. 

He grew up in Gordon, GA and loved fishing with his brothers and nephew, Richard Balkcom. His ultimate passion was flying his RC airplanes. Charles loved mustangs, Toyotas, Daytona and his beloved bell-bottoms. Mellow Yellow was his drink of choice.

Charles was married to his high school sweetheart of 46 years, Freida. They had one daughter, Angie, whom he loved very much. Angie got married on April 6, 2018 to Rusty Vanwyck. Charles thought very highly of Rusty and was proud to call him his son-in-law.

Charles was fiesty, fiery, smart, funny, witty, tiny and charismatic. He never met a stranger and could talk circles around anyone. 

He passed away at his residence after losing his battle with lung cancer with his loving wife and daughter by his side. He will be forever missed by all he knew, friends and family alike. 

Charles is preceded in death by his father.
The memorial service was held Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Wheeler Heights Baptist Church on Riggins Mill Road in Macon, GA.
