Francis Lamar Balkcom, Jr.

Francis Lamar Balkcom, Jr., of Twiggs County, GA, passed away on June 29, 2023, in his hometown of Macon, Georgia. The family will greet friends Sunday, July 2, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Hart's Mortuary, Jones County Chapel.

Born on December 19, 1948, Lamar lived a fulfilling life filled with love, service, and dedication to his family and community.

Lamar was a proud and honorable veteran of the United States Air Force. His commitment to his country was a testament to his strong character and sense of duty. After his service, Lamar continued his dedication to the Air Force as an Electronics Technician at Robins Air Force Base. His dedication to his work was evident in the quality of his work and the respect he earned from his colleagues.

Lamar was a man of many passions, with a particular love for the great outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, finding peace and tranquility in the beauty of nature. These hobbies provided him with a sense of fulfillment and joy that he loved sharing with his family and friends.

Lamar was a beloved member of his family. He is survived by his son, Chris Balkcom, and his grandchildren, Dylan and Alissa Balkcom, all of Twiggs County, Georgia. He is also survived by his brother, Wayne Balkcom and his wife, Melinda of Macon, Georgia, and his sisters, Darlene, Alice, and Karen. His mother, Imogene Smith of Macon, stepmother, Mary Roberts, and his sister-in-law, Frieda Balkcom of Macon, also mourn his loss. Lamar was preceded in death by his father, Francis Lamar Balkcom, Sr.

Lamar's memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family and all those who knew him. His life was a testament to his strong will, dedication, and passion for life. He will be remembered not only for his service to his country but also for his love for his family and the joy he found in the tranquility of nature.

His passing is a reminder of the fleeting nature of life, and the importance of cherishing the moments we have with our loved ones. Lamar's life serves as a beacon of dedication, love, and passion, and his memory will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
